Mission Vision & Values.

OUR MISSION.

We work in partnership with marginalized communities in the Dominican Republic to co-create lasting solutions to extreme poverty, through educational, community development, and service-learning programs. We are driven by three fundamental pillars:

  • First, to meet immediate health needs, such as sanitation, housing, and access to basic medicines.

  • Then, to support youth education, from pre-school through a trade or university degree.

  • Then, to empower individuals and communities to “give back” in service: to become, as program beneficiaries, those who then help build the next homes, and educate the next children.

OUR VISION.

Education Across Borders transforms communities through bonds of genuine relationship. Our work promotes personal and societal change rooted in a vision of the common good.  Acknowledging a world characterized by extremes of poverty, violence, and misunderstanding, we believe that we are created to be one human family, and that service, solidarity, and accompaniment reveal the path to healing, strengthening, and uniting this family. We believe that our brokenness offers opportunities for change. Through accompaniment we create a culture of service that transforms our physical, mental, and spiritual realities, especially those of the most marginalized.

OUR VALUES.

We build “from the ground up,” literally and figuratively, for immediate impact, and long-term outcomes, and we do so guided by our core values.

  • Listening to those who live the challenges, to understand them first as human beings (not problems), and tap into local wisdom. This allows the work to be authentic.

  • Partnering with local leadership and beneficiaries, to co-create the vision, and foster ownership in the programs which embody it. This allows the work to last.

  • Forming genuine relationships, accompanying each other in a mission that is mutual, and generative. This allows the work to grow abundantly.
